Mapping
A mapping is an association of identifiers (codes) from different terminologies to the same underlying concept. The fields used in mapping are:
Code System
The foreign terminology to which this concept is mapped.
Code System Version
If the mapping is specific to a particular version of the code system, this field must be populated. Otherwise, it can be left blank.
Mapped Code
The code (concept identifier) of the mapped code in the foreign codesystem.
Mapped Code's Representation
The text representation of the mapped code. Although it is not required, the text representation makes the mapping user-friendly.
Mapping Qualifier
A field that denotes whether the mapping is exact, broader-than, narrower-than, equivalent, clinically-equivalent, and so on.
Mapping Context
Context in which this mapping is valid and can be used. The context can be an application, a geographical realm, a use case, etc. Examples are US, Billing, and Classification.
